YOLANDA CHARLES (Ep2)

Yolanda Charles MBE is a British bassist, songwriter, and educator born in London.

Her first major gig was with Jimmy Somerville at age 18, followed by work with artists like Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Mick Jagger, BB King, Eric Clapton, and Hans Zimmer.

She was a member of Squeeze from 2017 to 2020 and has contributed to film soundtracks like Dune and *Boss Baby*.

Yolanda leads her own funk/R&B band, Project pH, and jazz fusion trio INSTRA-MENTALS with guitarist Nick Linnik.
She also runs Mamayo Records and NLYC Productions. Yolanda is a dedicated educator, teaching at institutions like the Royal Northern College of Music and Trinity Laban.

In 2020, she was deservedly awarded an MBE for her contributions to music, recognized as a trailblazer, particularly as a Black female bassist in the UK.
