From Millie to the Spencer Davis Group the music kept coming

UK music businessman and producer. Chris worked in the early days at EMI. He became an early partner in Island Records, a director of Island until July 1968.
He co-owned Brit Records with Harry Robinson and Chris Blackwell.
Chris was a label manager for Mercury records, and formed the BPR production company.

He worked with acts such as Spencer Davis Group, Stevie Winwood, Long John Baldry, Demis Roussos, Kenny Everett

“We filmed Chris a few years ago now in a home in Henley where he spent a lot of time recounting starting Island Records with Chris Blackwell and the nature of the music business way back then. Chris was very keen that we should record his story of a life spent in music – so we did. I guess it is in the nature of this project that there are times which are more upsetting, but there is also so much joy in the pleasure music has brought to the world.”
