BOB HENRIT

DRUMMER & AUTHOR

Bob Henrit is an English drummer whose career spans several of Britain’s most successful rock and pop acts of the late 20th century. Born on 2 May 1948 in London, Henrit first rose to prominence in the 1960s as a founding member of The Gods, a group that featured future luminaries such as Ken Hensley and Greg Lake. His solid, tasteful drumming quickly earned him a reputation as a reliable and musical player.

Henrit achieved wider recognition in the 1970s as the drummer for Argent, formed by Rod Argent. With Argent, he contributed to hits like “Hold Your Head Up,” combining rock power with technical finesse. After Argent disbanded, Henrit became a key member of The Kinks, joining in 1984 and remaining with them through their later touring years. His work with Ray Davies and the band helped sustain their live presence during a transitional period.

In addition to his band work, Henrit has enjoyed a prolific career as a session drummer, performing with artists such as Dave Davies and Roger Daltrey. Known for his precision, adaptability, and understated groove, he has been respected across genres from rock to pop.

Beyond performing, Henrit has contributed to drumming literature, co-authoring instructional books and sharing his experience with younger musicians. His long-standing career reflects both versatility and professionalism, marking him as one of Britain’s dependable and accomplished drummers whose influence extends beyond the spotlight.
