BARRY DICKINS
MUSIC AGENT
Barry Dickins is one of the most influential figures in the modern live music business, a pioneering British music agent whose career has helped shape the international touring circuit for more than six decades. Beginning in the industry at just 17, Dickins first worked with pioneering rock acts including The Who, and over the years became associated with legendary artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, and Bob Dylan. In 1978, he co-founded International Talent Booking alongside Rod MacSween, helping build it into one of the world’s premier live booking agencies representing major global touring artists.
Known for his deep artist relationships, instinct for talent, and unmatched knowledge of touring logistics, Dickins became especially respected for representing iconic performers including Neil Young, Paul Simon, and Dylan across international territories. His reputation rests not only on negotiating tours but on helping create the framework for modern global concert touring, connecting artists, promoters, and venues across continents. In 2015, he received the prestigious Primavera Award in recognition of his contribution to the live music industry, confirming his standing as one of the architects of live entertainment.
Barry Dickins is also part of a multigenerational music dynasty: son of Percy Dickins, founder of the NME, and father of leading executives Lucy Dickins and Jonathan Dickins. Still active as a senior agent at ITB in London, Barry remains a revered mentor and industry statesman whose career continues to influence how live music reaches audiences worldwide.
